Research Interests

  • While I'm a marine ecologist by training, I've spent the last several years working in an epidemiology lab that focuses on waterborne zoonotic diseases. I've manged to merge the two fields in my dissertation research which focuses on the interplay between humans, the marine environment, and microbial communities with special focus on species of the genus Vibrio. I've also have the opportunity to conduct research overseas in Thailand, where I will be focusing on the epidemiology of catastrophic shrimp pond failures believed to be caused by a virulent strain of Vibrio Parahaemolyticus.
