Research Interests

  • My research focuses on the patterns and controls on native ecosystem functioning. Emphasis is on Arctic, Mediterranean-type, and desert ecosystems, especially in Alaska, California, the Mediterranean Basin, and La Paz Mexico. Current research includes measuring the rates and controls on ecosystem carbon flux and storage by chamber, tower, and flux aircraft in an effort to scale to large scale regional patterns.
