What is an AoE?

Areas of Emphases (AoEs) are the nine different subdivisions that make up the Graduate Group in Ecology. Each AoE is comprised of GGE students and faculty whose research interests encompass the following subjects:

  • Agricultural Ecology
  • Conservation Ecology
  • Ecological Genomics & Genetics
  • Ecosystems and Landscape Ecology
  • Ecotoxicology & Physiological Ecology
  • Environmental Policy & Human Ecology
  • Integrative Ecology
  • Marine Ecology
  • Restoration Ecology

Students in the group must choose one AoE upon entering the group. Your AoE determines which required course you will have to complete before advancing to candidacy. Your AoE adviser will also be one of the members of your Guidance Committee.
